Janine Arendsen
Janine is a mixed media artist working from her home studio in rural Yea, Victoria. Janine attended Monash University in Melbourne, completing a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Visual Arts, 1989.
She works with watercolour, acrylic and has recently been dipping her toe into the world of digital art.
She has exhibited and sold work at the Yea Rotary Arts show, the Woodend Art Show, as well as her own solo exhibitions in the Alexandra Information Centre and RedGate Espresso Cafe in 2020. Janine is one of the "Painters & Potters” exhibiting at Marmalades of Yea later in 2023.
In the middle of 2019 Janine challenged herself to 365 days of watercolour painting. See her journey on Instagram @janine_arendsen_art“ It was a massive undertaking but my learning curve was exponential.”
Janine’s acrylic art is mostly expressive abstract.
I work on medium-sized canvas, wood and paper, sometimes incorporating collage. My inspiration is broad-ranging, but coming to the canvas with a clear and even empty head is my best approach to painting intuitively - it’s like meditating, you need to be present and in the moment.”
